Free Commerce: the Concert Foundation manifesto

Concert Foundation has published its manifesto, Free Commerce.

It sets out what we believe: that commerce should be free to connect, to compete, to choose and to leave, and that open standards are how that freedom is built. It describes where we think commerce should be heading, from dependence on platforms, through independence, to interdependence between participants who could each stand alone.

It ends with four commitments that bind the Foundation itself. We will not become the platform through which everyone must trade. We will hold no preferential relationship with any operator. We will work in the open. We will claim only what we can show.

This site has been rebuilt around the manifesto. SIGNET, the open standard for procurement that we steward, is its first practical expression. The specification, the demonstrations and the governance record are where they were.
